Saturday 17th June: Julie Hedges - From Camels to Contemporary Textiles

Julie introduced us to braids, cords and tassels. She brought some fabulous animal regalia to show us, as shown in the photos below.


Her talk took us Liverpool to India and back to the UK.


Using various yarns, such as goat hair, sisal, linen and paper yarns, of different weights, she uses a twisting technique to create different cords, which can then be made into vessels, bracelets, hats, bowls, as well as commissioned pieces.


Julie has developed her techniques in order to create different colours within the cords themselves and demonstated her work. It was a fascinating afternoon. Thank you Julie.
