Organza Flowers with Claire Muir

Following up from Claire's lecture a couple of weeks ago we had a brilliant workshop with her today making organza flowers. We trapped organza bits beween two layers of organza and then machined a flower shape and filled it with free machine embroidery. Then soldering irons were used to cut out the flowers before adding beads. They all looked beautiful as can be seen in the photos. Claire was very helpful and generous with her time and resources.

Here are all our beautiful flowers

Claire added crystals to her work and told us a good tip about using crystals with sequins

An afternoon with Claire Muir

On the 9th of February we had a wonderful afternoon with Claire Muir and her hats and fascinators. Claire talked about her life making hats. It was enthralling to hear about the creatiive work she did with shows such as Hot Ice in Blackpool. Her work is beautiful - hats made using machine embroidery on dissolvable fabric and wires. At the end we were able to try on the hats . We were fortunate that day to have a professional photographer with us who was taking photographs for an exhibition on the use of the building we use. It has been really difficult to choose a selection of photos. I have more if you want to see them.
