Janet Humphrey - Derby Bird

July Lecture
We first met Janet with her lovely work at the Regional Day in 2012. We were delighted that she chose to give her first lecture to us at Wolverhampton
Here is Janet with one of her gorgeous purses

Ribbon work - Janet was only too pleased to answer questions and give advice about her style and techniques

A lot of us loved this massive machine embroidery

You can appreciate the size of this piece as Lillian and Margaret examine it closely in admiration - pictured here above and below

Janet's use of antique lace, hand painted with silk paints, is evident on this wonderful scarf

Janet demonstrated how she paints her lace. Here are the diluted colours in saucers

An example of antique lace
Using sponge to apply paint
Janet has begun to paint the lace - she prefers her colours to be very pale and muted
Wall hanging with pockets
3-D perfume bottle in fabric and stitch enhanced with beads

The Workshop with Janet, will be the Derby Bird - these examples are hand embroidered and 3-D
They can also be interpreted in 2-D
